Position: Sewing Department Lead

Location: Position is based in Milwaukie, OR

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Reports to: Operations Lead

Purpose

Brewery Branding is the leading merchandise and promotional printing company for the craft brewing industry. We’re proud to offer tons of resources to help build brewers brands by providing in-house design, fulfillment, and on-line store management for our customers. We are looking for a proficient production sewing department lead to add to our new, state-of-the art custom sewing department.

Core Responsibilities

First things first…you must enjoy independent production work in a sewing shop and contribute to a team-based environment. The people we get to work with are the best and we expect nothing less from ourselves. The Sewing Lead position will be responsible for being the primary point of contact between the sewing department and other departments and will finds ways to keep communication flowing between departments and team members in a positive and productive way. The lead will be a key voice in department growth.

Essential Job Duties

Lead and manage team members within the sewing department

Welcomes constructive feedback from internal and external departments

Is a solution based thinker when problems arise

Checking and responding to Emails in a timely manner

Entering in and maintaining MeisterTask weekly production schedule

Distributing work throughout the week to the entire sewing team

Purchasing or directing the purchase of any proper threads and other related items for upcoming projects

Maintaining the patch backstock document, photos, and systems

Quality control, check alignment of patch placement, stitch length, tension, and thread color matching

Arranging projects for the weeks production

Be a positive voice for sewing room in meetings and with other departments

Build and manage maintenance program for all department equipment

Keep sewing department spaces clean and organized for efficiency and safety of team

Ability to work independently and with a team in a production-based environment

Lead a team to produce, world class, retail quality work with extreme consistency

Display a solid work ethic and can-do attitude

Excel within a system that demands attention to detail in both work output and working within a process

Must report to office daily with no remote work

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a great attitude

Need to love an organized and clean work space

Minimum 2 years of experience in an industrial sewing shop is preferred

Proficiency in industrial sewing applications is required

Must be able to follow directions

Have a high attention to detail

Supervisory Responsibility

This role has supervised positions to manage

Work Environment

Due to the nature of the work, this position must report to the warehouse location in Milwaukie to perform duties.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift boxes of up to 40 lbs. The employee must be comfortable with sitting at a sewing station for extended periods of time and working with their hands and feet.

Compensation

Brewery Branding offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, rewarding work environment and growth for committed professionals. Starting wage of $20-24/hr with a 90-day review. Position is fulltime.
